Why I really distain NT & Frontpage
Company I work for had a site designed by a former employee using Frontpage. We need to update one of the pages, however when I Dl'ed the site using GoLive, made the changes, and went to upload, I couldn't. Then I FTPed via OSX's terminal FTP program and attempted to upload the new page using 'put' only to get an access deined, so I went home, opened frontpage XP/2002 and DLed the site again, made the changes, went to publish the file and got the "author permission required". I can log in via WS_FTP_LE and view things, but can't DL nor make changes, I get the famous 550, permission denied error.
This is the only password the company owner has for the site and I am sitting here getting really pissed off. The box is a windows 2000 server with IIS 5.0 and is a shared account, so no SU privlages. It doesn't take long for me to forget why I like *iux so much better! (CHMOD ring a bell).
So anyone know of a solution or wtf is going on? My first guess would be different accounts, aka one for read-only, another with read/write, but the last time I had a lot of NT expirance was with NT 4.
