windows 200 server setup
I have recently setup a win2000 server and now have some serious issues with IP assignment that I don't where it came from. I had everything setup fine (just needed to get an internet gateway established) when a friend stated that I needed to chnage my domain from name.local to name.com. I ran DCPROMO and then reinstalled the services and now had DC with a domain of name.com. But now my server IP is taking on trhe IP of my T1 connection and not the intended and stated internal IP. I have the DHCP server, DNS server and WINS server set to the internal IP, but if my T1(external) connection is enabled then the WINS server defaults to the T1 IP which it never finds and the same IP shows up in my DNS forward lookup with the same name as my server computer showing up under both DNS server lookups of the internal and external IPs. If I disable the T1 connection, the WINS server reverts back to the internal IP and connects fine. Also, I have intermittent problems of my T1 connection not working while the Local (internal) connection is enabled. But again as soon as I disable the local connection, the T1 (internet and mail) start to work fine again. If I ping the "server name"."domain".com from a client, I get the correct IP resolution. However if I do a "NSLOOKUP SERVERIP 127.0.0.1", I get a message that the domain does not exist. Can I force any of these IPs in a setting/util that I am not aware of? I am really at a loss here and any help would be greatly appreciated!
