windows ME

HI,

I recently finished university and so dissconnected my computer from the small peer-to-peer network that i had set up with my other flatmates.

I am now at home and have set up my computer again. The desktop seems to have changes to a default, the start button will not expand and none of the desktop icons like my documents of my computer will work.

A message that appears sopmetimes is "the security setting set do not allow active x conent to be displayed, this may cause problems..." I cannot get to my control pannel to try and fix this.
Also when I try and click on my documents it says " cannot find my documents"!

Also I cant figure out why my desktop has changed by itself, the computer is powerless to do anything... very very frustrating

I would very much appreciate some help with this
