    Unhappy

    Help! How can I put bits of html code in several html pages, so that they all can be updated in seconds without the use of frames (say, if I have a menubar on all of my webpages, and want to update the menu without having to code every single page, but just upload the "menu-bit")? I know ASP can do this, and lots of other stuff, but is there any other way to do it (shtml or other kinds of special html pages)? With a standard webaccount with my (Norwegian ISP), I have not the opportunity to use server-side-solutions.

    You could do it with a javascript .js file that writes the menu and any effects into that portion of your pages, just have each page call that .js file
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" SRC="menu.js"></SCRIPT>

    Try this server side includes statement:

    <!--#include file="mymenubar.htm" -->

    or this PHP statement:

    <?php include("mymenubar.htm"); ?>

    These assume that 'mymenubar.htm' is in the same directory as the web page calling 'mymenubar.htm'.
