Hello all,

I have a problem (or rather a challenge) with communication over a serial port in linux.

I'm trying to make a deamon that runs on my webserver, which monitors the serial port.

There is a microcontroller connected to the serial port (Arduino) which communicates via serial (ascii values). The webserver can talk to the microcontroller via PHP, but of course PHP cannot listen to the serial port all the time. My goal is to make a deamon that listenes continuesly to the serial port and reacts to certain input values.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this?

Any ideas, I didn't think of?

Thanks!
