Bash shell scripting question
I have a script which is doing quite deep inspection on a file and from time to time I pull out a variable and return it - but I want to use the return data to called mkdir to create a series of directories based on the output of the script. How do I pass output from a script to mkdir. The script is running cat, egrep, awk and sed commands to pull this data out.

I'm not entirely sure what you're describing here.. but if you are assigning data to variables in your script.. you should be able to place mkdir in the script and use a variable as arguements?
Perhaps an example of your script would help...
