Is Linux a must to couple with FreeBSD? Or can i run it standalone, and will it support Oracle 11G without Linux? Also, could i get a book recommendation, i've never used FreeBSD before but im about to install it on a rack i just acquired.
Thanks! |

I'm not sure I understand your question. BSD is not Linux. You can run Linux applications on BSD by installing the Linux-compatibility libraries (for FreeBSD, you are prompted for this at install-time) and telling the system that the program you want to run is Linux-native:
Code:
#brandelf -t Linux your_program In books, I like O'Reilly's BSD Hacks, but it is not a beginner's guide. The FreeBSD Handbook Is a good reference for most tasks. HTH, Ben N1NP
