I have here CNET 10/100 Lan card(cheap). it works with my current win2K box. I want to dual boot it with Freebsd, can it support my NIC? As i look at the NIC's box, it supports SCO Unix? thanks in advance

It depends on what chip is your nic based on, but more often then not cnet's work just fine. It never hurts to check with supported hardware list, though.

If you have freebsd running, went he starts send a lot of messages about the hardware he found, look there for your NIC, if you like to see that mesage again: # dmesg <enter> is going to send again that message.
If you dont find a NIC, go to the site: http://www.freebsd.org/releases/4.6...6.html#ETHERNET If the NIC is there, look for the name of the driver, add that driver to your kernel and configured the kernel. You have another file called LINT is located on the same folder of your kernel file(GENERIC), that file have a lot of information about the drivers and how to add information to your kernel file. Is to easy. http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/kernelconfig.html ![]() |
