Can't configure X server

Hi,

I recently bought a new Compaq machine and installed FreeBSD 5.1 on it. the problem is as usual with X server configuration. i just can't make it work. i am a newbie and i may not know something that could prevent the server from working. In Windows, I looked at my hardware parameters, and they appear as follows:

Monitor: Compaq 7550, Horizontal 30-86 kHz, Vertical 50-140 Hz.

Video Card: Intel(R) 82845G/GL/PE/GV 56M.

it seems that such a video card is not listed in the xf86config menu. i think i've already tried all option combinations in xf86config. please help.

You need to go to the XFree site and look through the documentation on supported hardware to see if there's support for that card.
