Configuring sound in FreeBSD
I have installed KDE and it says it can't start the sound scheme because it is not configured. The /stand/sysinstall program does not seem to have any options for that. How do I make the sound device work?

thanks. still as i am a complete newbie i failed to find the KERNEL CONFIGURATION FILE because the manual says to add a few lines in it (I have a Crystal sound card) and i added them into a wrong file so that my system showed an error on reboot and i had to clean up that file.

No no, don't bother recompiling your kernel yet. Instead try this:
kldload snd_csa.ko If it works, see section 16.2.1 in the link above to load it at bootup. You can experiment with compiling it into the kernel later, once you become more familiar with FreeBSD. |
