Cron jobs doesn't work

I recently manually modified the crontab (root), i wanted to stop all the cronjobs, so i copied the text inside the (root) crontab, then delete all the text, then when i finished, i copied the text which was inside (root) to it again, now they don't work, any help please fast .... ?

It is possible that you need to 'inspire' cron into thinking it has a cronfile to action. Try a crontab -e and just save the file.

Did you edit crontab for the user root, or edit the /etc/crontab file?

Is the cron daemon running?

What does the cron logfile say? (/var/log/cron)
