Custom Kernel -- Strange Events
-- FreeBSD 4.8
I've sucessfully installed a custom kernel before. In fact, the config file I tried to use worked on a previous installation (but same version) of FreeBSD (same computer). Now the new kernel hangs on boot. So I started from scratch instead of using the previously configured kernel. It booted successfully once! but now hangs like all the others. This all leads me to believe it's not a kernel configuration problem, but something else. Problem is I don't know enough about FreeBSD to find out what it could be or where to look for such information. Any ideas? |

Have you tried plopping your old boot image back into place just to check that it boots okay - i.e it's not a hardware problem?

The generic kernel works (as originally installed). I guess my next step would be to take the GENERIC and compile it into a test kernel to see if there's some kind of problem during compiling that's messing things up.
