Disable fsck after crash?

Hi.

On my dual xeon server every time it crashes i have to wait over an hour for a fsck to complete after the reboot before the server comes back up.
This is absoutely terrible for keeping good uptime.

Is there any way to disable fsck on reboot?

and is there any downside to doing this?... surely i can just manually run fsck if i need to.

I would have thought it was needed.

When a BSD system is killed before it un mounts the mounts it can cause file problems, linking etc. So a fsck would check and see if there is any issues.

I think the main think would be to find out why its crashing and see if you can get that fixed.

I have a 120GB mirror pair in and fsck takes no more than 5-10 mins.

Is fsck reporting some errors?

The fsck (FILESYSTEMCHECK) is needed. You don't want to disable it.

FreeBSD 5 does it in the background, so there's an advantage of upgrading. I am guessing you run 4, right?
