Question download problem

I tried to download the floppies from this URL but when I tried to list the directory with ls, the connection was cut:

ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/4.5-RELEASE/floppies

I just tried it and it seemed fine. Try one of the mirror sites. Here is a list of mirrors:

http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.IS...irrors-ftp.html

You just need to change the prefix of the site. Good luck!

Are you by any chance behind a firewall that prevents the use of Active-mode FTP?? Have you tried setting your FTP client to Passive-mode??

I'm behind a firewall that prevents the use of Active-mode FTP, and I get the exact problem you describe if I forget to set Passive-mode. Connectiongs, change directory, no problem. Try to get a directory listing, though, will kill the connection.

Something to think about.
