Editing Kernel Config
If I want to edit my kernel config, once I'm done, what do I have to do next to make the changes go into effect?

Could you please elaborate on how you edited your kernel config? Did you do it via config -e or did you edit a file under /usr/src/sys/[arch]/i386/conf -- we'll need to know this information first before giving any advice.

I'm simply changing a few things in the config. I changed the make.conf file so it uses the proper kernel config. Now what do I do from here?

Short answer: Compile and install the kernel. For the long answer you have to supply much more information. Maybe start with telling us which OS you are using... M.
