FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE Sound Setup for an IBM Thinkpad 380D
ahem, well i have no sound, and i don't want to recompile my kernel. The Sound card is an ESS model, the specific model number i'm not sure of. i have gotten errors like "/dev/dsp not configured", "Could not open device '/dev/sound/mixer'". Help ?? i really want sound on this thing. i found the file ess.c in /usr/src and wonder how to make use of that file. sorry, i'm not clear on the problem, because the errors are not very clear, and i have tried alot of the help found on other threads pertaining to sound problems and none of them have helped. ARRRGGHHH !!!
