FreeBSD 5.2.1 port forwarding stops
Running FreeBSD 5.2.1 as a firewall running NAT. Firewall will suddenly stop port forwarding for unkown reason? Stopping and starting the nat daemon sometimes will correct the problem and sometimes will have to reboot system to get port forwarding to work again. Looking for help on how to resolve this issue and what might be causing this problem?
Thanks -Sam Davidson |

Dynamic IP or DHCP maybe? If yes, pass the flag "-dynamic" to natd.

I am running multiple static IP's bound to the NIC xl0. I considered the problem had to do with the NIC duplex but I have set parameters so that the NIC will connect with the correct speed and duplex to the switch and hub. Problem still exists. What is even more interesting sometimes it will fix itself by forwarding again the external requests again. I am at a complete lost. The firewall still functions as a gateway and computers behind the firewall can continue to browse the Internet. And I am still able to ssh to the external NIC that has stop forwarding traffic. |

Found resolution to my problem
I found a resolution to my own problem. This option I compiled in the Kernel. options TCP_DROP_SYNFIN. I removed this option and recompiled the kernel and that resolved the problem I was having.
