FreeBSD - Adding/Edit/Browse Users
Hi,
I just installed FreeBSD 5.2.1 with a little bit of help.. In KDE Desktop i removed the user root, and added a user called Michel, Bud now i cant login anymore becouse the root acc doesnt exist anymore, and the account Michel doenst have the rights for things thad acc root does have. Does any1 knows how i can give my acc Michel fully permissions ? like a superadmin or something. Thank you. ![]() |

Yes, you'll first need to boot into single user mode and then edit the password file with vipw. You'll need to change the uid and gid fields of Michel to 0:0
Instead of removing root, the better option would have been to merely change root's shell to /sbin/nologin
