FreeBSD /etc/hosts file gets rewritten after reboot

Hi,

I'm running FreeBSD 7.1 as a virtual appliance on Vmware workstation. When I add entries to my /etc/hosts file, the name resolution works fine for that session. But when I reboot, the /etc/hosts file gets re-written to what it was before I edited it. Does anyone know why this is happenning? Thanks.

Is it possible that you've got VMWare setup to restore some files on startup? FreeBSD shouldn't normally overwrite /etc/hosts on boot.
