    Freebsd says hard drive isn't right


    On my computer I try to install freebsd and it says that the hard drive can't be found, like it will go through the hole install like i can select all the things i want to install and partion the disk, but as soon as its done duing that it goes to the screen and says formating and then it pops up saying:

    Unable to find device node for /dev/ad0s1b in /dev!
    the creatin of filesystems will be aborted

    any idea on how I can fix that?

    Sounds like a buggy install disc.
    Are you using any special hardware, eg. a raid or scsi controller?
    Anyways, which FreeBSD version are you using? Did you try "safe mode" (no ACPI)?
