FreeBSD newbie with rare error/problem

hi

got this strange problem. freebsd hangs on startup each time. installed new now for the first time.(version 5.2 donloadad today)

kd0 at atkbd0
psm0:<PS/2 Mouse>irq12 on atkbdc0
psm0:model Intelli Mouse, device ID3
orm:<optionROMs>at iomen ...(lot of numbers)

000_0xccfff on isa0
pmtimers on isa 0
sc0:<System console>at flags 0x100 on isa0
sc0:VGA<16virtual consoles;flags=0x300
vg90:<Generic ISA VGA at port iomen ...
Timecounter "TSC" frequency (some frequency) quality 800
Timecounter tick every 10.000msec


and then it just hangs let it go for an hour bur nothing happened. this doent happen when i start in safe mode or ACPI (or something like that) disabled. but on all athor boots.

the vga driver is set to vesa because i hadnt time to install the driver for my radeon 9800pro.

my specs
Asus A7N8X DELUXE rev 2
AMD 2500 XP barton
1gig twinmos
3 hdd (IBM120 GB,Maxtor 120GB(is installed on this on a partition 15GB 2.5GB are swap ,Western Digital sata 120GB)

Can anybody help me or should I install it again?

I know as of FreeBSD 5 they changed the system timing to use ACPI instead of TSC... that seems to be the point its getting stuck on.

From what you said if you have ACPI disabled, it boots fine. That would suggest to me that there is some incompatability with the boards ACPI and FreeBSD.

Have a look at this thread, its not the problem you are having but related to another issue involving TSC and ACPI. I don't know if that setting will help your problem, but you never know. It's worth looking at anyhow.

that didn't solve my problem... nothing changes at startup. tryed both ways you had in the post...
