Good day everybody,
Does anybody know what the tag RELENG_10 stands for? v.s. RELENG_9? In advance I thank you. |

It's RELENG_4_9 / 10.
It says "FreeBSD 4.10 Release". This is the branch that will only recieve security critical updates once 4.10 has been released. And 4.10 is the current version of the 4 series, so this is the most current branch with release status. Unless you need some specific features of FreeBSD 5, this would be your best choice for building a reliable and secure system with FreeBSD. See Appendix A.6 "CVS Tags" for more information about the different branches. HTH, M. [edit] Heh, I looked it up after posting. Right now there is no RELENG_4_10 yet. So RELENG_4_9 is the lastest release. 4.10 should be available in a few days.

ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/C...04:11.msync.asc The 4.10 branch is already frozen, i.e. no more changes. And the first security advisories are out already too So, after installing, upgrade to RELENG_4_10 to get them.M. |

If you use a tag of RELENG_4 (i.e. stable version release tag) and upgrade, you will end up with FreeBSD 4.10 right now. The official RELENG_4_10 should be tagged next week or so.
