FreeBSD stops Windows users browsing network
Hi
We have a router with 9 pc's on our network. 8 pc's are running Windows 2000 or XP and one is a FreeBSD 4.9 box. The FreeBSD box has a fixed IP of 192.168.1.30 so I can use NAT from the router to forward www and pop3 requests to it, whilst all others have DHCP assigning their IP's. The problem we have is that when the FreeBSD box is on the network none of the windows users can browse the LAN. Starting or stopping Samba on FreeBSD doesn't make any difference. Does anyone have any ideas what to do to fix this? I use the FreeBSD box as my development server and have had to turn it off until I resolve the network browsing issues ![]() |

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you have BIND running on that FreeBSD box and it is now the Master Browser.
Just a guess at this point. Any reason to have Samba on an exposed web server? |
