FreeBSD XF86Config

I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the XFree86 configuration, but it says that No Screens are found. I tried installing numerous Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Mandrake, Gentoo), and they all had graphical issues. I think I configured it wrong somewhere. However, I did get Debian GNU/Linux working perfectly fine, so I know my hardware must be supported.

I know I configured the video card right (I have a 4MB STrio32 card) and I'm pretty sure I did the monitor things right (I copied right out of my Dell monitor manual).

I also copied my XF86Config file right from my Debian system to the FreeBSD one, but that only caused more errors.

Does anyone know any common problems or any detailed XFree86 install guides (FreeBSD specific would be nice) that I might find useful? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks infinitely in advance,

- chip14

Show the contents of XF86Config.

The FreeBSD Handbook got me going just fine.

I followed the FreeBSD handbook for my installation process, since I'm new to FreeBSD. I followed the X Configuration part to, but to no avail. In reply to your request, here are my configuration files. The one I have for Debian (that works on Debian but not FreeBSD) is located here. The one I made during the install for FreeBSD is located here. I uploaded them to my friend's website for obvious reasons.

EDIT: I thought it may be useful for you to know my monitor specs. Here is a link to those: monitor specs .

I attached my XF86Config file so you can compare. Did you create your skeleton file as directed in the Handbook?
Code:
XFree86 -configure
This should create a file for your computer and you should be able to use this one w/o any problems (though probably not with ideal settings). Then change one or two things at a time and test each change using
Code:
XFree86 -xf86config XF86Config.new
This way you can pinpoint what you're doing that may be causing the problem. You should really only have to change the Modes so you can get a better resolution and possibly the refresh rates.
