is /usr/local/etc installed by default ?
Hi ......
Please take pity on a newbie ....... I have just started to explore the wonderful world of freeBSD ... and have a bit of a question. is /usr/local/etc installed by default ? the /etc/defaults/rc.conf file shows this dirs but but they do not appear to be present, after the install. I have downloaded the mini 4.7 distrib and installed it. using both the standard options and custom options. The install goes fine but i was wondering why when i go through the structure /usr/local/etc does not seem to be there .... i have sliced the disk / /var /usr /tmp ...... could anyone tell me the answer to this please. Thanks |

No if you don't/haven't use the ports tree or not installing any precompiled binary. Once you pkg_add or make install something then the hierachy under /usr/local will be automatically mkdir'd. When something supposed to be present by default but it isn't there just create it by hand (i.e. /etc/make.conf). Last edited by freebsd : February 11th, 2003 at 02:23 AM. |
