KDE startup too slow
Hi all folks,
FreeBSD 5.2 ======== I encountered problem of slow startup of KDE 3.1, first popup desktop icrons, then bottom tool-bar, then welcome screen, etc., one by one taking prolonged time. Starting K package also takes lengthy time. Closing/exiting KDE is equally slow. Immediate after installation (from CD1) completed it worked perfectly. IIRC, only after playing around to configure network card, ppp, etc. which are still not completed yet, KDE startup became terrible slow. Kindly advise. TIA B.R. satimis |

I'm having similar troubles with FreeBSD 4.9, only it seems to stop on the loading of kdm, eventually getting there though, and the overall system performance seems to be slower than with my KDE on linux.
