Migrating to freebsd

i'm moving my main server off linux and onto freebsd, but we are still developing under linux clients, everything should work the same under freebsd?

Well, depend on.... If you want to bring Linux accounts to BSD, then you will have to tweak the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow to FreeBSD's /etc/passwd and /etc/master.passwd..

Wouldn't yp/nis or some other centralized password system (e.g., LDAP) do the job?
