mouse problem with freebsd 4.9
I'm a newbie- I started off by installing freebsd 5.2 and used it fine for a week. Then found out I couldn't install mysql on it, so I decided to go with stable version 4.9.
I installed everything exactly the same, but freebsd 4.9 will not recognize my mouse. I tried to go back and reconfigure xfree86 using the install cd- but when I try to configure xfree86 server, it says it isn't installed. I have a usb mouse running through a kvm switch. I also have a MS mouse I hooked directly up to the computer and freebsd 4.9 also doesn't like. Can anyone help??? |

Hi Ryland22,
I have personally never messed with a USB mouse, but the FreeBSD Diary is a good source for things like this. Here is a link to usb mouse setup: http://www.freebsddiary.org/usb-mouse.php maybe that'll help? I use a KVM (with PS/2) and have noticed that with FreeBSD you must have the KVM switched to the computer during boot, otherwise it will not recognize the mouse at all. After booting switching to other boxes is no problem. -Steven __________________ They do say, Mrs. M., that verbal insults hurt more than physical pain.
