printing
I spent a couple of hrs lastnight trying to get my printer, a NEC SuperScript 860, to work via parallel port. I was moderately successful, but not totally. It did seem to me that printers don't have "drivers" like in windows. How is this accomplished? Also, is it correct to say the filters act as drivers, or are filters primarily for file types and not printer drivers? Has anyone had any experience with apsfilter? Its listed in the printcap comments as a good filter, and I was curious if anyone had any experience with it.

For printer configuration you should checkout NetBSD's documentation as it's much better documented than FreeBSD's handbook. Actually NetBSD documentation has always been much better than FreeBSDs.
