Uptime - FreeBSD

I run a FreeBSD server that powers an "intranet." The users in the office access the server via Internet Explorer using the IP Address of the server. It does not use the actual Internet. We have Earthlink DSL, and as a result, we cannot access the networking from the outside. Their modem for some reason, denies all inbound connections.

So, is there any uptime monitor, where the server can have a CRON job set that it connects to a website, and checks in?? If the server DOESN'T check in, then it would page me??

I dont know if that's possible.

Thanks. However, here is the problem. Most systems like that simply ping the IP Address...and that is how you can get yay or nay. However, due to the horrible DSL Modem, you cannot ping the server and get a reply.

So, here is my dream set up.

--ON MY FREEBSD BOX--
Each morning, it does a few tests on the server. If all is well, it will send a command to ALERT Server (or otherwise "check in").

--ON ALERT Server--
If the server checks in...all is well. It will just record it and move on.
If the server fails to check in within, oh lets say, 10 minutes of the scheduled time...ALERT Server would send a Text Message or email or whatever people prefer to the Server Owner...alerting them that their server failed to check in.

Does anyone know of any system like that?
