Will FreeBSD run OK on Tyan's dual AMD CPU mobos?
I would like to build a dual CPU system running FreeBSD. Does anyone here have experience on how FreeBSD runs on Tyan's Thunder K7 or Tiger S2460 mobo? If so, what components did you find ran fine with FreeBSD and that mobo?
I'm not sure wether to get the Thunder with dual NICs and onboard SCSI or go the Tiger route. I'll use the system for learning Unix, software development and to experiment with as a server, firewall and router. The reason for dual CPUs is to learn multi-threaded programming. I'm also thinking the ECC memory options offered by the AMD 760MP chipset will be helpful when compiling source and running as a server.
Thank you very much for sharing,
