    What to back up?

What basic system files should I back up if I wanted to get my box in working order after some kind of failure?

I know to back up the *.conf files (and any others I customized) for my programs such as apache, postgres, php, etc. I also know to back up the web data I have and run regular back ups of my databases.

What about the start up and config files? Should I save everything in /etc/ too, or just the hosts, hosts.conf, and rc.*'s ?

    What am I missing? Thanks.

Just backup everything in /etc and /var or perhaps your entire /usr/local, /usr/sup, /usr/src/sys/i386/conf.

OMG! Talk about a late reply. I'm still rocking out FreeBSD - and now I know what files to back up. THANKS!
