Adult entertainment, its profitability

I was asking what industry sector makes most money on the internet, and pretty much everyone said that it's Adult entertainment. I also asked the participating in what industry sector makes most money, the answer was Adult entertainment. However, competition is fierce. Given that, is Adult entertainment still most profitable to webmasters? If so, why?

Note: I have no plan to get into Adult entertainment business, but it makes me curious why it's so profitable.

You can make as with any other affiliate programs on the internet. You dont need your own models, you get content from sponsors. Also sponsors pay you ussualy
per sign up.

Why it is so succesfull, you will have to ask some psihologist or better sexologist why.

But it's damn hard work. Lot's of try/error untill you get it right, and even then it doest last forever.

There is also many repeative work, like building galleries, most of people build TGP galleries and post them to TGP's (tgp lists).

Surfers go to TGP's since they know they can get free adult entertaiment there. And you hope that your gallery will make them horny enough to sign up with your sponsor, yet not too much horny to finish it right away

There are many sites to teach you on this matter. Like cozyaccademy and such.

Seems like you have some kind of "that's shamefull business" or something on adult biz ?

I don't call it shameful, but kind of hard to imagine that I do it full time, from the time I get up to the time I go to bed. There are a couple of arenas that I don't go near, not exactly because I'm against it morally, but because I don't think I can commit.

Just creating a gallery and using someone else his pictures is not really legal. Most of the adult sites are from the same owners. There are affiliate programms but you wont earn big cash with that. There are a lot of site out there and the market is full, unless you provide your own unique content.

Running a succesful adult website is very hard. You need your own models and equipment. Most of the sites also have offline activities.

I created some portals for different purposes. Gaming, dating etc. Most of them are very succesfull but thats mainly because they create their own content and have other activities so they can invest into the site.

Unless you are in that world, don't bother.

Having ran a site myself, when you start out and you link to the right places and they link you back, you can make a bit of money, when I started my own Adult entertainment area a while ago, we sold specific things as well as photo's and movies. on average after paying bills, we recieved in profit about 6k. to some this might be alot of money and to some it might not be. but regardless if you do the right things all will go well.

What timespan are we talking about? Did you also calculate the worked hours? I know that although its your own time, the tax issue remains a problem.

each month after paying my tax's as well as for the hosting and everything else that was about what I got out of it. it was not a big website. mainly catered to slave type stuff(ladies with chains whipping guys and what not), my average cost per month to run it was around 2500$

Why did you stop?

I got deployed(I am military), lol. no time to do things so I sold it. since I didnt know when I will have enough time and since my wife had a baby and we have one on the way I had other things to think about.

I have been thinking about doing this for awhile. I have a few other side websites up and generating a little revenue. But, I have always heard that the money was in adult material.
So, I am going to do it. Have to get a decent domain name first though. But what affilates did you work with? There are always good ones and bad ones. I just want to know which ones you would suggest?

I currently am running a free Adult site and doing it by getting affiliate and sponsors for the site.. Traffic is the big thing and then converting that traffic. Though my site has been up for 1.5 months and already getting over 3000 unquies a month.. I signed up for affiliates aswell as sell DVDs getting into toys and lingerie soon... I started with the affiliate first cause I wanted to see if it is viable or not without losing too much $$$, but if you convert time to $$$ then I have spent up pretty big...
