bad credit card processing co. experience...

Just want to pass along a bad experience I had with a credit card processing co. named Total Merchant Services. They hit me with outrageous fees and aren't willing to discuss correction. Can someone provide a co. that they are satisfied with with low fees.

Probably the "outrageous fees" were disclosed in the contract/agreement. 2.39% is typical, a $0.30 transaction fee is not unheard of, and a $10 monthly servicing fee doesn't seem terribly unreasonable either, and setup fees of $99 or $199 would seem generally par. Beyond this what fees did you consider unreasonable and what sort of pricing structure did you anticipate with "low fees"?

I too am interested in what fees you were charged. Anyways, how much money per month are you processing? That will allow us to give you good recommendations of processors.

I like CDGCommerce and have found them to have about the lowest prices around. They are fast and secure and cater to online companies.www.cdgcommerce.com

Just make sure in the contract that you sign, verify the limits of the contract with all the charges. If those charges were not in your original contract with TMS, you can contact the State Attorney's Office

agreement reached in credit card dispute....

After much discussion, Total Merchant Services refunded some of the charges. It took persistence to get a response.
I've dropped the BBB complaint as a result of our agreement. Message is don't give up.

I reccomend PayPal. They take a percentage, are easy to work with, and are well known.

I agree... with paypal so well known now, there really isn't any reason to go with an online merchant account anymore. They are expensive and too complicated.

At one point, processing credit cards on your site was seen as more professional, but I don't think that's the case any longer. Given paypal's exposure these days, I suppose we have EBay to thank for that, it's now a trusted brand.

With websites that are not as popular as EBay and Amazon, I would actually prefer to pay with paypal. Better customer service and protection.

PayPal can be considered a financial institution, in my personal opinion. I have a business account with them, money market, and even a debit card! And yes, you can thank eBay for it: PayPal is an eBay company.

The best one in my opinion is Authorize.net

Yes Paypal was bought by the ebay company. It also lok like ebay might buy skype

Just keep in mind that Authorizenet.com is not a MAP (merchant account provider). They are an electronic payment gateway (like LinkPoint and Verisign's Payflow). Yo need both a MAP / electronic payment gateway to accept credit cards unless you use a 3PP - or something like 2CO
