Business license question

I'm not doing much webdesign this year as other jobs have taken precedence. I had a business license last year which expired last month. Does anyone know, is there a mimimum amount I can make doing webdesign before I am required to buy the license? I don't expect to bring in more than say $2000 this year.

I'm going to call the city office here next...

hello

hey, I'm pretty sure it all depends on the area you are located in. Different areas have different rules. Where I am I believe that I can make a fair bit more than $2000 before I have to register the business.
Best bet would be to call the city like you mentioned. That way you know for sure!

A Business License is a legal authorization in document form issued by municipal and/or state governments and required for business operations.

In other words to be legally considered a business you have to have a license. I believe you have to have a license for each state you operate in. (i.e. Incorporating, Commercial Loans, Zoning, Taxes, Etc.,)

Obviously for online the rules are different, the rules governing internet rules are most likely on the State if not the Federal level.
