Copyrights and closing sites

ok i have copyrights for my script, but my site was hacked and now i want to close the sites that are using my script, for most of the sites, it's easy just to give their hosts the copyright notice to force them to remove the script, but the real problem when I can't get to the host company, or the site is hosted at the site owner servers, so who i should complain to to have these sites closed, and i dont really want to sue them because I don't have the time or money to sue all those ppl

thanx for your comments

Copyrights in the US are filed with the US Copyright Office (copyright.gov). Similar exists in the UK. I don't know the procedure where you are located, but when you say you have a "copyright" you can only mean that you have a registered copyright on file with an agency recognized as per the Berne Convention and international copyright treatise. If you do not have an official filing, you don't have a copyright registration. Technically, the control of the work belongs to the author (presumably you) but in this scenario you're going to have one hell of a time proving it. That's why registering your copyrights is critical. A judge may just throw any case out of court for lack of evidence before it even begins.

Um. No. I think you are mixing your fruits. Apples != Oranges.

If you have granted someone the right to use your script it's likely an unrevokable grant, and in any event the copyright control isn't the factor it's your binding agreement with the party per your contract.

If they are using your work without permission hire an attorney and send out cease and desist letters to all.

I closed many sites this way, my only problem is with sites that hosted by a server that the owner of the site own them, like from home or by the owner company, or if i can't get to the real hosts even using whois
