Credit Card Acceptance

Anyone know a better way to accept credit cards online than Paypal? Minimal transaction fees, no set up fees and fast funds availability are a must. Thanks.

There are many ways that are better than PayPal, such as having a dedicated merchant account. However, if you want all that other stuff like minimal fees, free setup, immediate funds, etc.. you might not get what you want.

If you want something "better" chances are you're going to have to pay more.

Taking credit card orders over the internet is expensive for the merchant, no way around it. Best way is to review the most prominent payment gateways, and find the cheapest one.

I would go over to osCommerce and find the list of gateways they allow, since they will have modules for the most popular ones. (popular = cheaper)

The previous posters are correct. There is going to always be a certain cost associated with accepting credit cards. If you find a provider that says they can meet your needs then you had better read the fine print to ensure that this is not an introductory plan for a specified period of time. Many times they change the plan specifics after a period of time and your fees associated rise to a very high level. If you are trying to maintain a professional look without using Paypal to process your transactions I would suggest that you look at 2checkout. They are the one I am most comfortable with and they have given me excellent customer service over the years.
