credit card gateway

I am looking for a good credit card gateway for processing credit cards online, that is inexpensive for my clients and has an affiliate program for me (web developer)

Ideally the payment processor will also be able to process payments for non-US business as well?

2CO seems to be pretty good.. im starting to not like PayPal because you have to create then login to your account to pay for services.

2CO has more fees than PayPal, but it's worth it

It all depends on what country you are in. Using a third party system like Paypal or 2Co, you are also subject to their rules as well as Visa and MasterCard

Ikobo.com - it has low taxes and supports international customers.

www.navahonetworks.com (Canadian)
see it all the time on casino websites. Looks a bit like www.hyperwallet.com (USA)

www.kagi.com (USA)
looks okay. Have never used it though

www.verotel.com (Dutch online bank)
five kinds of payment, cc, debit, phone, using a subscription method. Clients pay, then can visit a forum etc. Upside: no startup fees, only need a merchant account (if that). Downside: 17% fee on purchases! ow..

Of course, different countries have different online purchasing methods too. So I'm in Canada and here we can email money from our online bank accounts (www.certapay.com is already in use by banks here). But I can't use my land-based phone bill for online payments like the USA. Nor can I use debit cards online like Germany.

Most of the processors above can handle all these options at once, thereby serving the most international customers. But be sure to check the fine print.

cheers

Here's what I've discovered over the past few years for payment gateways

Paypal now has an API that allows you to pass credit card information back and forth, and no longer requires a user to have a paypal account. No monthly fee, and the interest rates are okay

2checkout is fine if you dont mind your users leaving your site to complete the transaction then come back to your site. Might drop your customers opinion on professionalism, but on the other hand might boost it for security conscious customers because you do not get to see their CC.
2checkout however, required that ALL products you sell are hard coded into their site, so to offer discounts, promotions, etc, you need to actually create another product with a lesser price.

psigate is reasonable if you can meet their requirements. For Canadian merchants they charge roughly $30 a month, plus you need to beable to sell the minimum of about $1300 per month to meet the Merchant Discount Rate. Each transaction they charge a % of the total sale. If the total accumulated percent each month isnt over $50 you need to pay them $50.
They provide alot of useful information, resources, and modules and code snipets for almost any language you'd code in.
