Do web developers need a contractors license?
Some mentioned to me in the state of California, anyone bidding on a job or using a contract has to have a contractors license.

Wondered if anyone knew if that was true.

Welcome to Dev Shed.

Not sure about how CA does things, but contractors licenses are generally for actual contractors.... like if I wanted to have my house remodeled, I'd call a contractor.. he would need a contractors license (or something similar).

Web Designers can do things freelance, or as many call them, independent contractors. You don't need a license to be an independent contractor.

Well thats what I thought. I did some searches but only came up with construction contractors.
