Facebook Developer Directory
I wanted to let everyone know about the new service that my partner and I have recently launched; facebookdeveloperdirectory.com (new users cannot put URL's in their posts
- Essentially we are a head hunting service focusing on the Facebook Platform development market.Applications that run under the Facebook F8 Platform are new. New to the extent that finding talented developers with a proven track record, or distinguishing yourself as just such as a developer is hard. That’s where we come in. Simply put, we match clients with specific needs to high-quality developers who are appropriately suited. FBDeveloperDirectory |

Do you have a question about business documents, copyright law, contracts, non-competes, etc.?
If this is just an advertisement, then pay some money and buy an ad.

My apologies if this is the wrong section to be posting this in.
My intent was solely to get some feedback. |

What kind of feedback are you looking for? There are several feedback forums here, and I can try to get a mod to move this to the appropriate one. Are you looking for feedback on your website itself? There is a critiques forum here and they can give you some feedback on the usability and overall look of your site. From a strictly business point of view, I think you have a good idea. It's good to stay ahead of the market and there aren't that many Facebook Platform developers right now. However, like everything else, this will become saturated pretty quickly too. I'm not sure that, as a developer, I'd want to ever market myself strictly as a "platform xyz" developer. Because when platform xyz goes away, which it inevitably will (either by replacement of a superior product or just becoming obselete), so does my career. I think it would be a mistake for people to market themselves as "Facebook Platform" developers. It's a niche, but it's a very, very small niche. Why not go the route of just creating a developer headhunter network? Which do you think will get you more clients, having a network of Visual Basic 4, 16-bit developers or having a network of desktop application developers? |

Firstly, thank you; that is very much the type of feedback and discussion that I was hoping to get going. I initially tried posting in the "web review" section but I was not permitted to do so.
Anyhow, the reason the concept (at this stage anyways) is focused primarily on Facebook is twofold; 1) We are simply trying to ride the wave here for a bit. It's a new market, it's a hot market, and everyone wants in. If we can offer a professional and reliable service and make some money in the mean time on something that is not our "main business", then we will be happy. 2) rentacoder.com and sites of that nature are well established and well known. They target the very type of market you are referring to (broad market), which is most definitely useful. Therefore, we hoped to attract some attention in a niche market and grow it from there. I agree with you 100% regarding the saturated comment, which is I believe why we tried to stay away from throwing up another rentacoder clone. Thanks for the comments thus far ![]() |
