Forum creation
I have decided to create a forum- there does not appear to be another one out there on this subject.

How can I go about earning money from this site? Would I have to get a good client base first and then get money for ads?

Or should I plan ahead?

Advice appreciated

Why create a forum when there are so many to choose from? And then you can put Adsense on there to help with generating income. If you get a forum without creating one, you would be much closer to your end goal.

You're right! There isn't a forum on that subject. Get a dedicated server, vBulletin, a user base, then you can sell ad space. You have to have a user base first because nobody wants to buy ad space that isn't going to be seen. Although there are some "per page impression" agreements, in which case the advertiser is only paying you if you show somebody the ad.

If there's no forum in your exact niche, but another related forum which is for sale, you may want to purchase it and expand it to include your niche. Building a community from nothing is a lot of work and takes a long time.
