How do you promote anything else that's not an E-Commerce site? The answer is actually almost the same thing.
Some ideas: - Advertise
- Tell people about the site
- Advertise
- Get a good SEO service (do a lot of research... SEO is not all the same)
- Advertise
- Sponsor various events/teams/whatever
- Advertise
Like I said, it's the same as promoting anything else. Look at how the big names are doing it, and do the same until you can come up with your own marketing strategies.

SEO is a long-term thing and is important, but it is not the be-all-and-end-all of website promotion.

I'd say: PPC+SEO+ADS (online+offline)
First - to get immediate results.
Second - strategic way of getting visible on the net.
Third - advertise yourself where it's simply possible!
And that's it. Don't think that there'is much left to say.

yes ppc is good, I always tell clients that whilst it is or can be expensive it is crucial to a web based business, consider it like where you want your store, down some shabby laneway or on the hightstreet,

Already advised all right. I also use these methods.
Yet, of course, a good way to get traffic - PPC system. I use the BizzClick.com
I am pleased with the results. It has all the tools as you need to filter traffic. Thus it is possible to obtain high-quality traffic is fairly cheap.
