www.google.co.uk/adsense
try that not sure how much money you would earn from it but it may help comver some of your costs

you add a little code to your pages and it displays ads related to your site
so for instance you may get ads from other hip hop sites or sites that sell CDs which ay or maynot be a good thing for your site

but do u realy want ads all over your site. I for the amount of money that it brings in dont see the point. Im sure there are other ways.

I f you didnt want to make money directly from the site then www.ciao.co.uk is good, and you could write revies for cds, as well as your site at the same time. Sorry its not a link, im replying in quick reply.

well i think all affiliates will do ads
on my site i have google ads and they give you different options you have a little add about 90 pixels wide by about 60 upto mine which is the biggest, you can alsochange the colours of the parts of the ads to fit in with your design

when i was looking for affiliates i did actually find anoter good company but i forgot the site
ill have a look nd get back to you later

From my past experience streching back to the days of USD .10 a click I've discovered a couple things.

1) Get people to your site. No people, no revenue.
2) Theme ads/content around what your site is about.
3) Use trusted companies for affliate programs. I've used Amazon on one site about programming and posted links to books I reviewed. Didn't make much, about $20 a month and $50 on a really really good month, but that paid the hosting bill.
4) Limit to one banner ad per page. You can place a couple static microads at the bottom, but no more than 3.
5) Google Adwords work. They are unobtrusive, text links that work the best. On my small site I was making about $80 a month with about 6k hits per day.

The only way to make money from a website is to be selling something. I make about $150 a month just selling stuff on ebay I find at garage sales or selling other people's old junk for a couple bucks on the side. ALthough I turn around and buy new used hockey stuff too on Ebay with that money.

The key to making money on the internet is removing the mythology behind it all. What it all boils down to is a number of processes that you have to repeat a bunch of times. . .getting reciprocal links, optimizing your site for search engines, creating more content pages, etc. As long as you're seeing a linear increase in traffic and in sales, you are on the right track.

Here are some simple, free, work-for-results methods I suggest:

1. Write articles and reviews about something you are an expert on (related to your website). Distribute those reviews/articles to as many directories as you can find on the internet. Include a compelling resource box description of who you are, what you do, and what is on your website. If you can do this, you will get a good amount of targeted-traffic for free.

2. Get links to your website. You can do this a number of ways. But you must follow three rules if you want to see the best results: 1) only link to sites with RELATED content; 2) avoid spammy and SE-blacklisted sites; 3) do not cheat your link partners.

3. Create content for your website. Add pages on your site for reviews, articles, downloads, etc. The more free, interesting content you have, the more often people will return to your website--and the higher ratings search engines will give you.
If you do google searches, you should have no problem finding a ton of public domain content (free content that anyone has rights to redistribute without permission) that you can add to your website.

4. Post on hip-hop messageboards to get the word out. Tell people who you are, what you do, etc. Also just participate in discussions and get noticed. If people like what you have to say, they might check out your signature.

5. Do internet press releases to announce the creation of your website. You can write-up a simple article explaining the who, what, when, why, and how of your website--and then submit it for free to a number of press release websites, which will distribute it for you for free.

These are just a few of the many ways you can get visitors to your site. Figure out what works best for you and then repeat it to get cumulatively better results.

Once you get a steady stream of visitors to your website--and a better handle on how things work--you will need to start testing your advertising response rates, sales copy effecacy, and lead-capturing methods. Test, test, test.

Good luck with your business.
