Legal Liability for Blaster Worm
If you are contracting out for antivirus, security, and firewall protection, is the service provider liable to those purchasing the service as far as down time and expense to innoculate infected machines?

my guess is no, they're not liable.
i would imagine in the contract the antivirus people have with the company, it doesn't say "we'll protect you from 100% of viruses and against all downtime." if that were the case, then yeah, i guess they'd be liable. but my guess is they'd cover they butt in the contract and not claim to stop everything, only most things, or "99% uptime guarenteed" or something. - Adam

Check the contract, because it'll say. I'm sure they left themselves an out, though.
