Opensource software conflict – help required
Greetings all,
I’m posting here asking for all of PHP coders help in a very delicate matter. in the last 2 months, I’ve been developed an opensource CMS system called PHP iNFiNiTY, (yes another one !, the world just can't have too many :P ) before that I was voluntary helping another opensource software called PHP izabi, this voluntary work involved proving support to new users and occasionally write a few mods. PHP izabi was never open to joined development, there was only one developer and he did everything him self we only helped with providing feed back and bug reports... up until lately PHP izabi source was 5% encrypted with ioncube, this included : index.php and several files in the "includes" folder. I didn't announce my project (PHP iNFiNiTY) yet and I didn't post about it anywhere yet cuz it's still in beta and needs a lot more work.... the izabi people found out about it and immediately accused me of stealing izabi source code !!! of course to do that I’m also accused to cracking ioncube no matter how silly it may sound .... as a coder I was offended by this, as I would expect any coder to. I build my software with my own efforts and dedicated a lot of time into it, only to be accused of stealing and cloning in the end .... I never used anything from izabi source, nor that I ever had access to it, all the packages from izabi were distributed with that 5% encrypted content which no body ever knew ... I think of the people on izabi as friends and I continually kept trying to end the silly war they started, though no matter how I tried, they kept insulting me and attacking ruthlessly ... every time I told them to bring a 3rd party coder in and have him decide if anything was stolen or ever cloned they just ignored the statement and never responded. so here I am searching for support from you guys, if you have free time and think you can do a comparison of both softwares, please do and post your findings here you can contact me at support@php-infinity.com and you can contact the izabi coder at support@phpizabi.com my software is available for free at : http://www.php-infinity.com their software is available for free at : http://www.phpizabi.net Please note that unlike PHP izabi, PHP iNFiNiTY is still under heavy development and wasn't even meant to released to public at this point ... Thank you all for you cooperation. iNFiNiTE |

Moved from PHP Development to Business Help.
Have you tried agreeing upon an arbiter or a third-party reviewer who can show him that no code was stolen? Also, remember that you are fully and legally entitled to reuse your own code (so, you could take snippets of PHP Izabi and use them in PHP Infinity, even relicensing them as such, so long as you own all copyright to that certain code).

well ....
Quote:
well PHP iNFiNiTY was build with scratch (of course i used some public librarys and classes) but it has nothing from izabi ... and as far as agreeing on anything it's not possible cuz the developer of iz won't talk to me at all, he uses other folks to send me his message, and even when i suggest (a zillion time) to get a 3rd party to evaluate the codes, i always get ignored .... |

The use of innuendo and lack of anything concrete sounds like FUD and SCO tactics. If they are creating FUD about you and your product, you may want to document the controversy (via a blog and website like Groklaw or FedExFurniture.com) so people can read what's going on and come to their own conclusions, perhaps even some of the izabi folks who may only know of the issue through vague assertions. Documentation is also necessary if this conflict escalates. Is your code in a source control system?

documenting
first of all no, i'm not using a CVS "yet".
and as far as documenting i'm not sure how i'm to do that .. i've kept every converstaiong log and email that is related to the matter and there are some firends who were with me all the way and they gave up thier izabi titles because of this, so i don't think they are gonna do anything about it, simply cuz it's all a bluff ... i don't know what their exact intentions are from all this ... but whatever it is .. it's not gonna affect me .... thanks |

Greetings all,
thank you for you responses to my last year's post, or at least for spending a few moments reading it ... time has passed and things have changed, PHP iNFiNiTY has come a looooong way since those days... PHP iNFiNiTY is now a fully mature product (currently in Beta stage), we have a large community backend support, a lot of contributers and pleanty of fun ![]() since the events mentioned in my original post took place, the co-founder of PHP Izabi (not the coder guy) has left Izabi and joined forces with me. and so have a larg number of Izabi users ... I say this not to brag but to show how popular and serious this project have become. our star product (code named: Zeta) is an online community builder unlike any other. you can find more information @ (URL address blocked: See forum rules) iNFiNiTE. |
