Selling a Webapplication
Hello,
im in the process of developing a web application. it includes a website with it, the application makes it easy to manage the whole site (apart from colors) along with other things. it is not yet in a sellable state but i was woundering if there is any ideas on how i would go about selling it? ---also on a nother note--- if you have a job (say a web developer) and the boss decides to make u a furniture removelest insead.. is that allowed? --- end note--- |

It all depends what your contract and/or job description says but it sounds a tad unreasonable, unless it's tables he wants removed! |

Does it solve a problem of your targeted customers? It all depends upon your product and how well you are going to market it.

the product is designed to make a good looking website thats easy to navigate as well as manage on the owners part. (I.e they dont have to pay to have some one change simple details on the website, they can manually do it them self) so it would cut the cost of haveing a website down a lot (I.e no more Web Developers ect) it would be a once of fee, of course if they have problems with the progeam (I.e they cant work something out) then they would get support for it as well. its just made to make life easyier for people who want a site but cant afford to pay to have some one change it for them when it needs update.... my job description states i am a web developer only.. a few times he has had me move things out of his house into a storage shed ect as well as stuff around the office.. (tables (big things)) as well as installing phone extentions in offices ect. |

back to the moving stuff... I'd charge him extra. That's not why you're there and if you need to use other skills then those need to be compensated.
unless you've made a point of stating 'no' in line with your wishes you're implicitly agreeing to his requests for no money or compensation. Helping him move from a house just saved him bucks from a mover! This has nothing to do with you. Why doesn't he fix the phones himself? Or is this a "TITLE" company society? If it's unwanted, and it sounds like it, you are going to have to say that you want to stick to your development. This is afterall why we code, we don't want to be movers Fein weakness in the back if you must, or say you did it a few times but as a regular basis you'd like to be paid, or not anymore thank you. Anyway, regarding your product, not sure if you've mentioned it but you might want to consider it as a website service where clients pay a monthly fee. That way you can garner their input from your service to improve it as well as reach the largest potential client base. As well in terms of support you're also only dealing with one version, the live one, and not dozens of variations. Hope that helps sf2k Last edited by sf2k : February 22nd, 2006 at 05:43 AM. |
