I see a lot of webmasters saying "done this before" and "used to go this route" when it comes to advertising with AdSense and a few other companies.. well, what route do you go now? Do you sell advertising directly, now?
I'd like to know what I should be charging and how I should be charging for my ads. I run www.lokitorrent.com and so far I've made enough to pay hosting costs and whatnot, but I would like to begin to earn actual supplemental income from it. The site receives 400K page views and 90K uniques per day. Is there any kind of pricing range I should be charging? I don't want to scare off advertisers, but then again, I don't want to undersell myself (possibly making my site look fly-by-night in the process). Exact (US) dollar figures will help best. Also, should I be charging by the click, by the ad display or by the month? What are the benefits and downfalls of each? I know it's asking a lot, but I think many other webmasters are wondering this same thing. Lowkee |

well you can either charge by saying a set fee for so many thousand impressions or you can charge a set monthl fee or like google you can charge by clicks
but i think the 2 most common are paid for clicks and impressions not a set price for a month how much you charge also depends on the nature of your site which i havnt checked

Leaning towards direct ad sales by flat fee/date range
Greetings:
Yes, I'll soon be launching a site that will rely on ads initially for income and am wondering also, how, and what, to charge. Without a history, it will be tough to command "big bucks" from a potential ad customer. I suppose as a starting point, we could look to print ads, there location, size, and media type? The problem I see with the click-counting method, is that one would be paid only after the agreed upon time frame is over, then tallying those clicks to arrive at a total bill to submit. What if the customer disputs that bill? Then, one has to go about proving those costs, a time consuming process creating an antaganistic kind of relationship with a customer. Let me know any thoughts you have about this subject. Thanks in advance. Ed in Tampa |

Did you notice that the thread you replied to is over a year and a half old?

Actually...yes. However, the question is still remains to be answered, and, or, discussed. During a search on this forum, it was the only thread speaking to this question. I could have started a new thread I suppose...but hey, we've a foundation already...let's build. Nice duck picture; I've never seen one with blue eyes before. |

Haha.. don't diss Howard the Duck ![]() And I really have no clue about that advertising stuff... I just jumped into the thread after I saw it was old to make sure you knew and weren't expecting any replies from the original posters who are probably long gone, etc... Good luck! ![]() |
