Software Reselling Laws
I have an extended family member. They run a business of buying a piece of software from a software website, and reselling it at a higher price on their own website. Simple.
What I want to know, is what are the general laws about reselling software. Isn't there some copies that you aren't allowed to, and some you can? The software company has their own reseller program, but I want I do not think they're a part of this, I think they do it on there own. Anybody know about this idea? Thanks! |

Most software companies include a section about the liabilities of reselling their software for profit. It is, for the most part, illegal to sell someone else's software without being party to their reseller program (if any is available). If you're asking to find out whether you can do this, I'd say don't risk it. If you're asking on their behalf, have them read the documentation on the software they are reselling. |

I'm going to fill out the companies reseller info, and have them contact me.
I looked on my family members software and the copies say "CANNOT BE RESOLD" Which means that - since I know they run a legit business - they are a member of the reseller program of the company! Thanks for the info. I'm gonna talk to the manufacturer and find out all about it. happy new year! ![]() |
