Sponsorship

I'm not sure where this should go so I'm posting it here.

I and a team of developers are making an MMORPG (see project help wanted forum) but we can't do this without sponsorship and donations.

What I'm saying is that I'm looking for people willing to donate server space etc. in exchange for a mention in the game and a percentage of the profit.

Can provide some more info please because its really vague...

We are developing an MMORPG which will be p2p (pay to play) when released. Unfortunately we don't have the money to buy servers etc. so we're looking for people to sponsor us.

What I'm proposing is you donate a server or a domain name or some money to us and when we release the game you get a percentage of all profit gained.

Is that a bit less vague?

How many users are we talking about? Do you have any commitments?
Any examples from similar projects that have been succesful?
What are the server specs needed?
Name of the project?

Its still vague, need more info if you expect me to invest.

I expect there to be a fairly large userbase, anywhere up to 500,000 members i estimate.

A similar project that has been successful, well I can give you quite a lot, just look at the game list on mmorpg.com.

At the moment we are still in early development so a full server isn't needed yet, 1GB of hosting would be enough to transfer the files amongst the team.

The name of the game is either Galactic-Trust or something else that the team decides on.

I estimate the development is going to take 2 or 3 years to make a good game.

The whole team have pretty much promised to see this project through as some of them see the potential of money here. If you want more details about gameplay or about something else, please ask.

Here is where you lost me. You are expecting 500,000 members for your MMORPG; that rivals World of Warcraft, Everquest, Guild Wars, and all the major ones. Isnt that a bit extreme?

Im enthusiastic about helping you guys out, but you might need to be a bit more straight foward. And what have you guys worked on before. Linking us to a generic mmorpg site that lists games you havent worked on doesnt help.

My company will sponsor you guys, but we need more insurance that this is worthwhile.

Some of the team have worked on some MMORPGs before, I'll get more details off them and post it when I can.

I don't expect it to rival any of the major ones, they have a userbase of probably millions but not many of those logon in the same day, sometimes not even the same week or month. I expect a userbase of anywhere up to 500,000 but not that many accounts being used everyday.
