Starting a Datacenter / Web Hosting Business
Hello, I am not sure if this post is in the right area, but I hope it its. Anyways, I am starting a SMALL datacenter in Minnesota USA, and I would like to invite as many people as possible to help and own a part of this business. I am basically looking for someone or multiple people to invest in this datacenter/web hosting business. If you are intersted in and would like more details or a business plan please pm me. Thanks so much.

Rather then being able to invest, I would enjoy helping you get started. I am very good at developing large scale websites, as it is a good joy of fun for me. I would not be able to help you with money though, all of it is going to car parts =P

I too may be interested in helping you build the datacenter (if needed). I wouldn't be able to contribute much with money but I have over 8 years experience with Oracle and MySQL databases.

Finance and questions
Hi globix,
I have limited knowledge of webhosting and datacentres as I am a chemical engineer by degree/profession. I am interested in your idea from a financial (accounting/start-up capital?) point of view and I have sent you a PM. However, there is something I have an issue with that I thought you might want to discuss publicly for the benefit of everyone: I notice that you have already started several threads about businesses: 22nd December "Custom Web Server - $40-100 CHECK THIS OUT!!" - Advertising that you are making custom servers for people "who know what they are doing". 9th January "Podz9 Needs Help Badly". Saying that you wish to make a site that is effectively all things to all people Also on the 9th of January "Corporate website needed and more". Saying that you need help making website material for Podz9. And yesterday saying that you are interested in starting a web business. I am slightly confused. Is podz9 related to your web hosting and do you not think its ambitious to try to make a website that contains a version (social networking etc) of everything? Does your thread on the 22nd December not hint that you already have a business in the making? Im just making the point that if someone was going to invest to get you started, they would want to know which project(s) you are really focused on, because otherwise it looks like it changes every fortnight? Would you mind clarifying please? Regards, Porky / Paul Last edited by Porky : January 17th, 2008 at 04:29 AM. |

I am now one of the leading administrators for the Podz9 corporation. We will have a multitude of things to do on our site, as it will take some time to complete. Try actually visiting our temporary site before posting, that will sum up any questions on what were providing. We already have a few people helping, I myself am the leading site designer and I am coding our site from scratch, the demo is looking pretty good...
Podz9 will be providing the hosting, while GlobixNet will become our Data center in the coming future. Our web hosting part has a dedicated staff that is extremely familiar with system administration, programming, and web design. We are also experts with our control panels. We currently don't need lots of money, but we do need donations to get more servers and get more panel licenses. Helping us will provide you a solid spot on our recommendations page. -Will Perkins, Administrator Podz9 |

What kind of cooling? What kind of power distribution? How much weight can the floors in the facility handle (important for high density racks)? Generator and UPS systems? FM2000 fire suppression? What about physical security to the facility itself? Data Centers are big, expensive, painstaking projects. |

danushman: why are you resurrecting these old threads (without much to say)? Please try to look at the dates ...
